What this tool does, and what it doesn't
This tool adds a picture of your signature to the page. For lots of everyday paperwork, like a permission slip, a delivery note or a form someone just needs back signed, that's all you need.
It isn't a tamper-evident digital signature, though. Nothing stops the file from being edited after you sign it, and there's no audit trail showing who signed, when, or from where. Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened, signed and saved inside your browser. It never goes to SignWren or anyone else, and the signed copy is saved straight to your device. Your original file is not changed.
Is a PDF signed this way legally binding?
It can be for plenty of everyday documents, since US law generally does not reject a signature just because it is electronic. What matters if there is ever a dispute is showing who signed and that they meant to, and a picture of a signature on its own proves very little of that. For contracts that matter, use a service that seals the file and keeps an audit trail.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Not here. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be changed by this tool. Open the file in the app that made it, remove the password or editing restrictions, save a new copy, and sign that.
Can more than one person sign the same PDF?
Only by passing the file along: the next person opens your signed copy here and adds their own signature. There is no signing order, no reminders and no record of who signed when. Sending one document to several signers with a full record is what SignWren is being built for.
Is there a file size or page limit?
Files can be up to 25 MB. There is no page limit, though long documents take a little longer to open on older phones.
